We offer a freight share program which allows customers to piggyback and share freight cost as long as total combined weight stays under 5 tons.
How do we determine rate?
We take the total number of loaded miles, divided by the number of units on the truck, multiplied x $1.00 per mile, plus or minus any credits or surcharges.
The plus or minus surcharge is applied to make deliveries fair for all parties involved.
For example. We currently have a freight share load heading up the East Coast with deliveries in Mississippi, North Carolina, New York and Boston. Total miles loaded will equal 2600 miles. We divide the total miles 2.600 and multiply x mile rate of $.75 per mile = $1,950.00. We divide that total, $1,950 by the number of units (4) on the trailer and we get an average delivery rate of $487.00 per unit.
Without any further corrections This scenario would not benefit the customer in Mississippi. His delivery rate of $487.00 would be more than what a solo rate to his location would be.
To make it fair, we would apply a $200.00 credit for the Mississippi customer. The customers in North Carolina, New York & Boston would pay a surcharge determined by their final delivery location.
With the new credited sur-charge, the Mississippi customers delivery rate would decrease from $487.00 to $287.00
The North Carolina customer would pay a surcharge of $75.00 plus his original portion of the milage of $487,00. The remaining two parties would pay their equal portion of the total milage of $487.00 plus a sur-charge of $125.00 each determined by their location.
Additional charges:
There will also be a surcharge applied to routes that access toll roads, bridges, ETC.
There will also be a surcharge applied if routes cross state lines where the average fuel price is more than $4.00 per gallon.
